In summer, the Pacific Northwest beckons – it’s time to explore Washington’s Olympic Peninsula with kids. Our favorite place to stay is Sequim, which is close to Olympic National Park, and typically sunny, when it’s raining in other parts of the peninsula.

On Living History Day at the Petaluma Adobe, step back in time to a working ranch of 1840. Volunteers dress up in historic clothing, and kids have fun with hands-on activities – write with a quill pen, stamp designs on leather, weave a basket , rope a “bull,” listen to music, find out what life is like 150 years ago.

Kids will have fun on spring Farm Trails, a weekend visiting working farms in Sonoma County, seeing (and petting) baby goats, lambs, pot-bellied pigs, chickens, miniature horses, and sampling locally produced eggs, cheese, honey.
