In California Gold County, on Highway 50 rolling hills are dotted with farms and fruit orchards.
This area is called Apple Hill.
Apple Hill is a two hour drive from where we live in the SF Bay Area. For years, we’ve headed up to enjoy the bounty of apple harvests in fall.
Each year different apples will be available, taste and find your favorites to bring back for eating and baking.
Apple Hill farms have bakeshops with family recipes for apple pies, apple dumplings, turnovers, strudel, fritters, and new treats like apple cider caramel shakes or apple slushies.
Farms also have gem mining, nature trail, maze, train rides, pony rides and hayrides, plus barbeque, delis, and activities for families.
Here’s Travel for Kids list of farms to visit: Apple Hill
