Butter & Eggs Day Parade Petaluma

A yearly event for in Petaluma, theme of Butter & Egg Days Parade is cows and chickens. Little girls are dressed as fluffy yellow chicks, people wear striped bee or black and white cow costumes, parade participants include local junior high and high school kids, businesses such as dairy products, egg farmers, plus old fashioned trucks and classic cars.

Washington National Cathedral: Children’s chapel, flags & gargoyles

Much cheaper than a trip to Europe to visit medieval cathedrals, a visit with kids to Washington National Cathedral in Washington DC is a way to experience a Gothic church, but one that’s also very much American.

Look for gargoyles, state flags, stained glass windows with scenes from expeditions and space exploration, needlepoint pillows of famous authors, statesmen, artists, presidents, and a special Children’s Chapel.
